Introduction to Digital Animation

Animation by Camilla Fanning

Learn the basic techniques and make a digital animated film using free & basic software. We use a fully equipped Computer Room.

For Teens 13 – 16

COST – €160 per week (reductions for siblings available)

Weekly Summer Camps in July & August  in Mounttown Community Facility

2pm – 5pm Monday to Friday (short week August 7-10)

(DTBA) Explore Mixed Media – Mixed Media & Found Materials Arts Constructions

Mixed Media & Found Materials Arts Constructions.
Make a small object using a wide variety of materials, old photos, Japanese papers, maps, fabric, found objects and more. Create a unique picture, sculpture or interactive piece (various workshops).

Half day. All materials supplied. Enquire for next Dates & Locations.

Make a Botanical Print

Time 10am – 4.30pm

Cost €70  (includes, printmaking materials, lunch and entry to the garden)

June 9th

A one-day workshop of plant drawing in the morning and then using these images to make a selection of mono-prints in the afternoon. You will be introduced to this exciting method of image making and shown everything you need to know to use this technique at home. A light lunch and print making materials included.

Course tutor an experienced teacher and professional practicing artist  will be on hand throughout the day to help and advise. The workshop includes clear demonstrations, a relaxed atmosphere small groups ensuring individual attention.

Garden Watercolour workshop

Time 9.30 – 1pm

Cost €50 (includes entrance to the gardens)

June 16th

Spend a half day painting en-plein air. We will use the natural surrounding of a variety of carefully selected beautiful gardens as inspiration. The workshops start with a demonstration showing you how to mix colour following an approach developed after attending watercolour workshops in the Art Students League New York. Using this method will help to keep your painting fresh and alive. Pray for sun! Although there will be sheltered or covered spots, and a few indoor ones, to paint in. A materials list & morning refreshments provided.

Course tutor an experienced teacher and professional practicing artist will be on hand throughout the day to help and advise. The workshop includes clear demonstrations, a relaxed atmosphere small groups ensuring individual attention.

Garden & Landscape Art Workshops  (see dates and locations below)

Have you ever wanted to take up your paints and paper and paint outdoors? This season’s Art Workshop Series by IrishEtchings begins with two Watercolour Workshops painting en-plein air using specially selected beautiful gardens around Dublin and Wicklow as inspiration.  Each workshop starts with a demonstration on keeping colours fresh using a method from the NY Arts Student League.

Spend a day out doors with the world as your inspiration. These workshops will take place in various venues and explore a variety of media, using the landscape or famous gardens as out source of motif.

Further  workshops in watercolour, drawing and printmaking will be on offer over the year.

Introduction to Watercolour – 21 April – €20

An introductory class in how to use watercolour and mix colours will be held in Mounttown Resource Centre at the introductary price of €20. Saturday 21 April 2012 form 9.45 to 11.45 (materials list will be sent in advance).

Artist Book workshops

Make an artist book. We will look at different types of book constructions and the use of a variety materials and decorative techniques. This workshop would suit the artist who wants to add a few words or the writer who wants to make an object.

Story Quilting / Textile Art (Various Start Dates)

Inspired by the sources as diverse as the historical quilts of the early American settler and contemporary artist quilts this workshop covers basic quilt technique with an emphasis on using appliqué to create a story panel meaningful to its maker for inclusion as a centrepiece in a larger quilt or to be used by itself.
